History of the NAD The Association was established in 1946 after the Polish Union of Associations of the Deaf-Mute, which was set up in 1925 as a result of the Deaf social movement that had existed in the Polish territories since 1876. It was active until the outbreak of World War II. The Association is a direct continuation of the tradition, and the ideological and rehabilitation ideals of the Deaf movement.
