On 23rd and 24th of May 2016, EUD took part in a training seminar given by the “European Academy of Law” (ERA) on “EU Disability Law and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”.

The UNCRPD was discussed in detail, including its purpose, general principles and obligations as well as the functioning and monitoring / review role of the UNCRPD committee. Additionally, input from various experts was given on how to implement the Convention on Member-state level as well as best practices on civil society and DPO involvement in the process. Additionally, the European Accessibility Act that is currently being adopted by the EU institutions was presented in detail.

Thematic sessions explored, among others, the topics of education and employment for persons with disabilities.
