Стратегически диалог относно плана за действие за прилагане на Европейския стълб на социалните права

European Social Pillar fund

On the 21st of October EUD attended the strategic dialogue meeting organised by the European Commission on the Action Plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights (Action Plan).

During the meeting it was highlighted that the COVID-19 crisis triggered a major shift in the EU economic paradigm and therefore the Action Plan is of a great importance to ensure social and just recovery. The European Pillar of Social Rights should be at the centre of the recovery strategy.

It was discussed that the European Semester process continues to be the most appropriate tool for monitoring the implementation of the Pillar and pursuing a high level of commitment by the Member States to deliver on it. EUD reminds its members that we produced a toolkit where the European Semester and the European Pillar of Social Rights are explained in detail.

EUD supports many of its colleagues who highlighted during the meeting that the upcoming Action Plan to implement the Pillar of Social Rights should be inclusive, include clear timelines and targets and should set out an accountability mechanism. Among others, it should set out concrete legislative and/or policy measures on reduction of poverty and inclusion, minimum income and on access to social protection. EUD continues following the developments regarding the European Pillar of Social Rights as its implementation is crucial for deaf persons across the EU.
