"Disability Thematic Network Forum for Inclusion” with the title "Leveraging the European Accessibility Act to promote change"

On 22 June 2016, the European Foundation Centre organised a “Disability Thematic Network Forum for Inclusion” with the title “Leveraging the European Accessibility Act to promote change” in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels, Belgium.

Our Executive Director Mark Wheatley attended the conference and got involved in the discussions which focused mainly on the tools around the European Accessibility Act and on how to get the newly proposed legislation to function well. Several speakers took the floor, including Ádám Kósa, a deaf MEP from Hungary. He spoke about the progress made on the European Accessibility Act in the European Parliament. Catherine Naughton, director of the European Disability Forum (EDF), also provided some input. EUD is monitoring developments regarding this act very closely, as an adopted and strongly implemented Accessibility Act would be vital for deaf persons across Europe.
