Σεμινάριο EUD & FFSB στη Ναμούρ, Βέλγιο

On the 1^st of September, EUD had its second board meeting at the EUD headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The board and the staff took the opportunity to discuss EUD’s past and current work and the plans for the future. The board members had a chance to meet two new interns, Serafine Duss (Switzerland) and Roy Maguire (Ireland). 

During the meeting many important topics were discussed. The staff and the board members discussed how to better prepare for the EUD’s Workshop and the Seminar that will take place during the General Assembly, which will be held in October in Vienna, Austria. It was discussed that meaningful feedback from our member organisations is necessary in order to adopt a strong position paper on the UN CRPD General Comment No. 2.

Furthermore, EUD co-organised a Seminar with French-speaking Federation of the Deaf Belgians (FFSB), which focused on education and interpretation for the deaf children in Wallonia, Belgium. Our Policy Officer and the editor of EUD’s book ‘’UNCPRD Article 24: Education’’, Katja Reuter, took the opportunity to explain EUD’s perspective on the Article 24 of UN CRPD. Also, EUD Board members, Louise Lolo Danielsson and Sofia Isari, gave a presentation of Maya’s De Wit research on sign language interpretation.

The seminar was a great success and ended in the interactive discussion after the presentations. EUD appreciates co-operation with the FFSB and is looking forward to other collaborations in the future.
