European Day for People with Disabilities 2014

European Day for People with Disabilities 2015

On the occasion of the European Day for people with disabilities (3 December), it is always an exciting day for the European Union of the Deaf to participate in this special event.
The event began on 2 December for two days at the European Commission.
We would like to update you all on few things:

Access City Award:

The Award aims to encourage cities with at least 50,000 inhabitants to share their experience and to improve accessibility for the benefit of all.

The Awards goes to Borås, Sweden. We hope to see more accessibility being accomplished for the deaf community in one of the European cities. Keep up the work!

Insign Demonstration:

After the two successful demonstrations, we were asked by European Commission to do another demonstration during the event to raise awareness of our pilot project, Insign. This pilot project is looking into the ways to support European Institutions like the European Commission and the European Court of Human Rights to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing European citizens.

Today, we also focus on the “jobs for all and an accessible society”. It is very vital for the deaf community to be involved with the society. We are very pleased to be part of this conference to give our contribution on behalf of the deaf community.
