EUD supports European Disability Forum which demands European elections for all – sign the petition!

The European elections take place on 23-26 May 2019 giving EU citizens the opportunity to select who will represent them in the European Parliament.

EUD highlights that in order to make sure that the European elections leaves no one behind the Member States must ensure that persons with disabilities can meaningfully exercise their right to vote as guaranteed by Art. 29 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Among other measures, it is essential to ensure that election campaign facilities and materials, political debates, political party programmes and websites are accessible to, and inclusive of, persons with disabilities.

European Disability Forum launched a petition calling for action from EU Governments. EUD encourages you to sign the petition if you think that no one should be left behind during the European elections 2019.

Millions of Europeans with disabilities are deprived of their right to vote and participate in elections. We want them to have it by May 2019.

We call on the governments and electoral commissions of the EU Member States to ensure that 80 million Europeans are able to have their private vote!
