CRPD workshop a fogyatékossággal élő személyek szervezetei számára

On the 17^th and 18^th October EUD participated at the technical workshop organised by the United Nations Human Rights Regional Office for Europe (OHCHR), the International Disability Alliance (IDA), the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the European Network of Equality Bodies (Equinet). During the workshop organisations of persons with disabilities learned about the United Nations Committee’s on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD Committee) work. The objectives of the event were to increase participants’ knowledge about the work of the CRPD Committee and to explain how to engage with the Committee.

During the workshops, which were monitored by IDA Human Rights Officer, Juan Ignacio Pérez Bello, and EDF Human Rights Coordinator, An-Sofie Leenknecht and Silvia Quan, IDA Senior Human Rights Advisor, EUD had an opportunity to learn how to draft alternative reports and replies to the list of issues; how to monitor the implementation of Concluding Observations and how to fill in individual complaints. EUD acquired valuable knowledge, which will eventually be disseminated to national deaf associations. Martyna Balciunaite, EUD’s Policy Assistant was appointed as a rapporteur after the workshop and presented the outcomes to other participants.

Moreover, EUD was particularly pleased to have Polish Deaf Association present at the workshop. We hope that knowledge gained during the workshop will aid in contributing to Poland’s review process.

EUD is thankful for such learning opportunity to the OHCHR – Regional Office for Europe, Equinet, IDA and the EDF. EUD will continue to enhance cooperation with these organisations for the better and coordinated provision of guidance to national deaf associations. EUD will use the knowledge gained during the workshop to develop a training tool for national deaf associations of countries that are under the CRPD Committee’s review.
