Invitation: European Platform Conference

The European Platform of Deafness, Hard of Hearing and Deafblindness has the pleasure of inviting you to its first conference, that will be held on Thursday, 15 November 2012 at the Representation of Bavaria, Rue Wiertz 77, 1000 Brussels. 

Our Platform is an alliance of five European-level NGO’s, all EDF members: 
1. EURO-CIU: European Association of Cochlear Implant Users; 
2. EDbN: European Deafblind Network; 
3. EFHOH: European Federation of Hard of Hearing; 
4. FEPEDA: European Federation of Parents of Hearing Impaired Children; 
5. EUD: European Union of the Deaf. 

We are committed to benefit; defend the rights and represent the interest of all Deaf (including sign language users), Hard of Hearing, deafened, and Deafblind people and their families. The Platform therefore represents millions of people and their family members. 

The conference on 15 November will focus on the lack of accessible and reliable data on the number of people with specific disabilities and the problems and issues that arise from this. One of the objectives of the conference is to highlight this to key stakeholders who are in a position to change this situation using existing tools. 

Speakers include representatives from the European Institutions, as well as the European NGO community. A panel will discuss the need for high-quality statistical data and its link to the proposed European Accessibility Act. The event will be followed by a networking reception where we hope to greet you.

The Platform looks forward to welcoming you in November! 

This event is fully accessible for wheelchair users and will have interpretation from and to International Sign, as well as speech-to-text in English. The room is equipped with hearing loop to benefit hearing aid users.
