La riunione della Piattaforma europea della sordità, dell'ipoacusia e della sordocecità si terrà il 30 ottobre 2019.

The meeting of the European Platform of Deafness, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblindness on 30th October 2019

On the 30th of October EUD attended the meeting of the European Platform of Deafness, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblindness. Representatives from EURO-CIU, European Association of Cochlear Implant Users, EDbN, European Deafblind Network, EDbU, the European Deafblind Union, EFHOH European Federation of Hard of Hearing People and FEPEDA, organisation representing associations of parents and friends of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children were also present for the meeting.

During the meeting representatives from different organisations updated each other with the latest developments of their work. Representatives discussed how can they better collaborate and support their members during the period of transposition of the recently adopted European Accessibility Act (EAA) and how to better raise awareness of and disseminate the toolkit on transposition of the revised Audio-Visual Media Services (AVMS) Directive. Mher Hakobyan, Accessibility Officer at the European Disability Forum gave an in depth presentation of both pieces of legislation. EUD highlighted that it will soon make the toolkit on transposition of AVMS Directive available in International Sign on their website. 

The meeting was an excellent opportunity to find out the latest information and updates from different organisations and discuss future collaborations. The next meeting will take place in March next year.
