End-users workshop

On the 15^de of October, EUD attended the We4authors workshop organized as part of a collaboration between the European Disability Forum (EDF) and Funka which took place at the Microsoft Center, Brussels.

We4authors is a European Pilot Project regarding web authoring tools led by Funka. End-users are specifically targeted by this workshop as its aim was to obtain their perspectives. Throughout the workshop, we were briefly introduced to the results of the project before moving on quickly to discussions on needs, challenges and the exploration of possible solutions.

Although Funka’s main purpose is to collect information before issuing a report to the European Commission, EUD came out of the workshop with the impression that it was not satisfactory as not much news or information was gleaned from the exchanges which took place with the project managers. In any case, we hope that the information from the end-users’ side will be used to improve accessibility, as good and adequate accessibility features for authoring tools and content publication are necessary for persons with disabilities while they must remain easy to use.
