Recce visit to Zagreb, Croatia

On the 12th of February 2020, EUD Executive Director, Mark Wheatley, visited Zagreb and had a meeting with the Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. 

The visit in Zagreb was an opportunity to inspect the venue for the upcoming EUD General Assembly in May.

During the meeting, hosted by the President of the Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Mrs. Jadranka Krstić, the upcoming seminar in May and its programme were discussed. 

It was agreed to focus on the topic of sign language legislation at the national level and also to discuss the development of Croatian sign language interpreting leglisation.

Representatives of the Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the European Union of the Deaf also visited the Ministry of Culture and met with:

  • Anuca Ježić , Head of the Sector for international cooperation in the Ministery for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy;
  • Nada Zrinušić, Assistant to the Minister for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy;
  • Zvjezdana Bogdanović, Advisor to the Minister Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy;

They have engaged in discussions about the upcoming seminar and also had an in-depth discussions about the upcoming UN CRPD review of Croatia which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland.
