All countries that ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities can nominate a candidate. The election will take place in New York on 9-12 June 2020. EUD encourages you to nominate deaf experts, especially deaf female experts for the UN CRPD Committee from Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Untitled\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/369799089?h=859a8f7a98&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, only three members of the Committee are from Europe (Lithuania, Hungary and Switzerland). Most importantly, two of the Committee members who are deaf or hard of hearing, Mr. L\u00e1szlo G\u00e1bor Lovaszy from Hungary and Dmitry Rebrov from Russia Federation, are finishing their mandate in 2020.&nbsp;The committee members that served 2 terms cannot run for the election again and therefore cannot be re-elected. This is the case of Mr Laszlo Lovaszy Ph.D.<strong>&nbsp;and Dimitry Robrov&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, there is no women with disabilities from Europe nor deaf women in the Committee.
