Written Declaration Lobby

EUD

The European Union of the Deaf (EUD) are in the middle of their Written Declaration 35/2011 campaign on accessible 112 emergency services. 344 members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have already signed the Written Declaration.

The Written Declaration 35/2011 was initiated by the Romanian Deaf Association and is co-ordinated by EUD. The Written Declaration calls for accessible 112 emergency services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people including video technologies that support sign language and text-based systems. This Written Declaration also calls for legislation and standardisation in EU Member States.

In September and October, the EUD team was at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and Brussels to lobby MEPs and ask them to sign the Written Declaration 35/2011. During our visits at the European Parliament, we succeeded in convincing 344 MEPs to sign the Written Declaration.
