Euroopa sotsiaalõiguste sammas (EPSR) on Euroopa Komisjoni algatus, millel on väga ambitsioonikad eesmärgid: tuua tagasi ELi sotsiaalne mõõde, tasakaalustada majanduspoliitikat sotsiaalsete kaalutlustega, taastada ühendus Euroopa kodanikega,
samal ajal tegeletakse töömaailma ja ühiskonna muutustega seotud põhiküsimustega üldisemalt, edendades kõrgemaid sotsiaalseid standardeid. EUD eesmärk on tagada, et kõik põhimõtted ja eelkõige põhimõte 17 oleksid kurtide jaoks ELis rakendatud.
