Today, the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) proudly publishes its much-anticipated Report “Combatting Gender-based Violence and Discrimination against Deaf Women and Girls in the EU”. This comprehensive report emerges from in-depth discussions with female representatives from our member organisations, offering an insight into the lived experiences of deaf women and girls across Europe. The report critically examines, from the deaf perspective, the impact of the forthcoming EU Directive on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, integrates the ambitions of the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, and aligns with the principles of the EU Pillar of Social Rights. We are very grateful to all who contributed their insights, paving the way for this important analysis that aims to foster a more deaf- and gender-inclusive society.
